Developing
a website that gets internet traffic requires hard work. If you want
to do the work yourself here are some helpful pointers...
The design of a website is NOT about graphics or programming. It is
the about marketing of your product or service to an unseen market
audience that must first find your company on the World Wide Web.
Our partnership with Procon
Management Services allows us to develop professional looking
websites that get results.
The first step in developing a great site is first focusing on who
your intended is audience and what products/services are you want
to promote. Based on that information you need to develop a list of
keywords that will be used throughout your site. Using the clearly
defined list of keywords you now can develop the content of your web
site The content of your website should be easy to read and understand.
Writing good web content takes a lot of thought and rewrites. Use
colors, underlining and white space to make your points stand out.
Make sure all directions are clearly noted on your site.
Think about the "look and feel" of your website. Your site
will be a statement about your company! So look at other sites including
your competitors. Keep notes about what you like and what could work
for your company. Keep in mind how long it takes for a site to load
on your system. (The industry rule of thumb is
that if a site that takes more than 30 seconds to load at least 50%
of the visitors will leave). The use of graphics says very
little about your company and can directly impact the performance
("negatively ") of your site. Now take all of those great
ideas and start drawing (a mock up) the layout of a potential website.
(Take your time…great work is not done in a day!).
Make sure the pages flow and that there is a uniform in look and feel
from page to page.
Well, you are two-thirds of the way there. Now comes the most critical
piece of marketing your site. All of your work will go to waste if
you have no visitors. You need to submit your site to the various
search engines. Actually being posted on the various search engines
can take anywhere from 1 day to 8 weeks. In addition you will need
to actively market your site:
So maybe developing a website on your own is a little more than you
thought? Let us help you get where you want to be. Partnering with
our company we will get you there quickly and painlessly. Just need
a basic site?
